When you live in a city as great as ours, there comes the perks of lavish restaurants and places to wine and dine. From some of the best steakhouses to the mom and pop diners that everyone knows your name, we’ve come to appreciate our restaurant community and what it brings to our locals.
One in particular, Fireside Pies was born to what we know as historic Henderson Avenue in Dallas, TX. As one of Dallas’ most well-known neighborhood restaurants, this artisan pizzeria not only supports its own community by using local fresh ingredients, but they offer the concept of heartfelt rustic cooking, genuine hospitality and a joyous spirit of gathering with friends and family.
A FIRESIDE FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE
As first time visitors, we were amazed at all the variety of handcrafted cocktails that their menu had to offer. Made with fresh ingredients, each cocktail is made to perfection with its own unique presentation.
The blackberry white rose sangria
We started off the evening by trying one of their signature seasonal cocktails, the Blackberry White Rose Sangria.
Pro: Fresh and crisp taste, fresh berries, great presentation and garnish, definitely more on the sweet side if you love a sweeter taste.
Something to Consider: It had a slight tart-like taste, but not enough to turn your head.
The wood fired peppadew chicken wings
The wood fired Peppadew chicken wings was a menu item currently being tested at the time. As the ultimate "wing guru" JT took the lead on opinion with this one.
Pro: Sweet smelling, had a little kick for those that like a little heat, cooked fresh, great skillet presentation, served hot, mixed with a dry ranch seasoning that takes away the concept of having to use a dipping sauce.
Something to Consider: The glaze contained a stronger balsamic taste than what I would normally eat. As a result, it was a little overpowering, but everyone has their own taste. The chicken was also a little more on the chewy side vs. my preferred crispier side. But note that everyone has their own taste in what they like in wings, so whatever works best for you is most important.
Baby roast kale and beet salad
There's no limit to a unique salad that we won't taste, so it was suggested we try the Baby Roast Kale & Beet Salad.
Pro: All the ingredients mixed in this salad were very fresh, loved the idea of using candied lemon rinds, contained fresh walnuts, goat cheese and mixed greens. I also loved the mixture of fresh honey mustard dressing that came on the side. In the end, this one gets a KALE YEAH!
The Goat Cheese veggie pizza
Nothings taste better on a Friday evening than a good ole pie. As an artisan pizzeria, this was one entree that we were excited to try.
Pro: Baked to perfection, super fresh, came out hot, loved the use of fresh artichokes, peppers, olives, goat cheese and mushrooms.
Something to Consider: There was a lot of use with the peppers in this pizza, so if you’re a fan of peppers this is definitely the pizza for you.
