Summer is one of my favorite times of years and it’s comes at no surprise that I have more than my fair share of summertime white dresses sitting in my closet just waiting to be worn. White is actually one of my favorite colors; I find it to be classic and quite soothing.
I'll have to admit, that I am a bit of a collector when it comes to spending a little more than I should on one dress, but if I take a look back in my closet, I have a number of pieces that have been classics of mine for over 5 years now. If something gets a little too big or small, I just call on alterations to make those quick fixes for me. I'm all about longevity - I would rather spend a little more on something that I know will last longer and get more wear vs. something that will develop wear and tear quickly over time.
One piece in particular that caught my eye was this floral dress from Self Portrait. At the time I was in need of an outfit for the Lee Park Day at the Races event, but ended up finding something even better. A classic white dress that I knew would come to good use for any future spring or summertime special occasion.
With it being the Day at the Races event, I had to put my creative mind at work and come up with a hat idea that would match the theme of my assemble. After a quick trip to Michaels, I found this gorgeous set of orchids that I quickly added to a fascinator. It was if I was a walking flower that had just bloomed!
