Meet Instructor Kate Ryan
To continue our post with Classic Pilates, I would like to introduce Kate Ryan, my second instructor of my Vbarre class. Kate gave great advice when it came to working different parts of your body that we often sometimes forget.
It's all about the small movements and focusing on taking it slow. There's no need to do a million hip raises unless you're going to do them right because that will get you the best results in the end. - Kate
With my hips being my personal problem area (ladies you know how that goes), I wanted to learn a real hip buster to give me that toned looked. Being that Kate is pregnant, she featured an exercise called the Kneeling Sidekick that not only works the hips and core, but also works great for expecting mothers. By raising your hips and legs in small up and down movements will get those hips working and soon you'll be feeling the burn! Trust me ladies... you may feel sore after, but you're going to look great in those jeans!
This exercise is great for those that are expecting. I find that many pregnant women are intimated by Vbarre classes, but there are some amazing benefits to it! For example, this particular exercise focuses on strengthening the hips and giving yourself stability.-Kate
With the holidays just around the corner, it’s that time of year where food and holiday parties can sometimes get the best of you. With all the assortment of pastries and fine wines during a large Thanksgiving and Christmas feast, it can be difficult to get keep the calories down. As two city kids we're constantly seeing ourselves lack for time to workout and are easily influenced by the lavish selection of fine restaurants and happy hours within our beautiful city of Dallas.
So as a solution to this “so-called problem of being easily influenced,” we came across a great solution - Classic Pilates! Many of us that are new to the world of Pilates can find it hard to stay on a system of going to class every day. But thanks to Classic Pilates located in the heart of Uptown Dallas, Jt and I were invited to try a 30 day trial. Classic Pilates is a fully equipped studio that offers private and semi-private sessions, Reformers, Pilates Mat, and Vbarre group classes by Power Pilates certified instructors.
Interested in a Vbarre Class?
Vbarre is a fusion of classical ballet, Pilates, and resistance training. Using a ballet barre, band, ball, and glide board, the Vbarre workout shapes the body through energetic movement that challenges the participant and provides calorie-blasting cardio. Vbarre is a fun, powerful workout that yields real results!
Try A true Butt-Buster, The Attitude leg swing
This exercise was by far one of my favorites! Wow... did I feel it my booty the next day!
Pilates band arms
As another favorite exercise of mine, this move helps build arm muscle all while building strength and working the core.

Back in June, I was asked to be a part of a beauty event hosted by fashion editor Lee Frazier and Make Up For Ever located at NorthPark in Dallas, Tx. I’m definitely one of those gals that are always open for a fun day of beauty, so I was excited to see what this was all about.
Trained by some of the top makeup artist in Dallas, the Make Up For Ever team put together a class on “how to contour” for all guest that attended. We were trained on learning the basics of face shape and how master complexion and contour techniques.
My Beauty Favorites
Now, I didn’t want to give away all their beauty secrets, so I decided to just highlight the products that were most interesting to me.
Step 1) Prepare your skin.
My favorite product used during step 1:
The Gentle Milk Moisturizing Cleansing Milk - This cleanser effectively removes face and (non-waterproof) eye and lip makeup all while purifying the skin. It made my skin feel super soft and it also had a lovely light almond smell to it.
Steps 2-6) Here is where you apply foundation, concealer, set your complexion products with powder (if needed), highlight and contour.
Two of my favorite products used during steps 2-6:
158 Double Ended Sculpting Brush - This “two in one” ended brush worked as a tool for powder application and sculpting. The round side can be used for powder application and highlighting with the angle side being used for sculpting the cheekbones. Note, that this brush can also be used with loose and compact powders.
Sculpting Kit – This compact powder duo highlights and contours the complexion for a natural finish. With its neutral undertones and matte finish, this product creates the illusion of a more sculpted face shape by enhancing your best features.
Step 7-10) Eyebrows, mascara, cheeks, lips and Mist+Fix.
Here are two of my favorites used during steps 7-10:
Mist and Fix - This mist is amazing and it seals your makeup on your face for up to 12 hours! It also provides protection from external issues such as pollution and temperature.
Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Color – If you’re a red lipstick gal like me, you’ll love this product! I loved the color and the best part is that it doesn’t fade or come off.
My Before And After
Here's a before and after that I did so that you’re able to see the difference.
