Among the Dallas Uptown crowd and hustle and bustle of the streets of McKinney Ave, lies a salon around the corner called Blaine’s. As a hair guru, I couldn’t have been more excited to attend the Blaine’s Preview event the day before the grand opening. Every girl from Texas knows that it’s all about “the big hair.”
Owner, Blaine Schlaudt has been in the hair–care industry for over 28 years. Highly trained in all aspects of beauty, Blaine came to create his own product line called Blaine’s, that carries a wide variety of shampoo’s, conditioners, and a dry shampoo that is my personal favorite. As a working girl, I’m always on the go and Blaine’s Dry Shampoo does the trick for a fast refresher on my hair when I’m in a hurry. Created with some of the best ingredients, his shampoo and conditioner are also sulfate and phosphate free. His salon also offers blow outs, haircuts and color, teeth whitening, botanical air brush tans, and Botox and lip enhancers.
As you walk in, you can’t help but notice the colorful décor and well put together staff. As I waited to get my blow out, I made my way to the light bites and champagne (I’m a sweet tooth fanatic). The sushi from Blue Fish was super fresh and I was breath taken by the taste of macaroons, cake pops, and cookies from Tart Bakery. Both foods created the perfect combination of healthy and sweet at the same time.
Being that I have long thin hair, it can sometimes be difficult to style, but not for Blaine’s! My stylist, Bill Johnson knew exactly what to do and he styled my hair like as if I was the only girl in the salon. He also added a touch of the dry shampoo to the top of my hair that added a little bit of “Texas poof!” After seeing the final finale, I looked like a hot little diva ready to take on the city.
My next appointment was for a FREE facial by one of their estheticians Caressa Gian. Being that this was my first facial ever, she made me feel super comfortable and provided me with a wealth of knowledge for my skin.
My final appointment ended with a makeup session by makeup artist, Natasha Best. As a girl that loves color, I can sometimes get a little “color happy.” I tend to have a hard time knowing what colors to mix with what. As Natasha trained me, she recommended colors of purple, gold, and even pink to go with my green eyes. I loved hearing all her advice and she made it super easy for me to do it myself at home.
As I left I was graciously provided my very own decorated cookie from Tart's Bakery and 3 free products from Blaine's (including my favorite, the dry shampoo)! I was one happy woman!
If you are in need of a day of pampering and fun, we would highly recommend visiting Blaine's. This was one salon that deserves a double ++1 in our books.
