If your among the many women that have watched “Devil Wears Prada or The September Issue, then you’re fully aware of the representation behind the “September Vogue Issue” - the fashion bible behind the new season in fashion. Time to box the short skirts and wedges, hello leather leggings and booties!
Not to long ago, we were kindly invited by a good friend of ours to attend the First Look Fall 2013 collections of Helmut Lang, Alice and Olivia, and Rag and Bone presented by The Shak at Stanley Korshak.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Shak, then you should definitely make some time to stop in. They carry a wide variety of “ultra-chic like” pieces from designers such as Robert Rodriguez (another personal favorite of mine), Cut 25, A.L.C and much more. Not to mention, that when you walk in, you’ll feel like you just walked into a new home. They have everything one could ask for – beautiful clothes, a place to wine and dine, men’s wear, a beauty area, and much more!
As the fun progressed, I made my way over to the cocktails that were sponsored by Solerno; a versatile base spirit as well as a modifying sweetener that works great in any evening cocktail.
D Moms was also featured as the event media sponsor for the night. If you’re a mom, I encourage you to check out their website linked below. Their magazine and website features everything there is to know about being a mom - healthy tips for the family, fashion advice, activities for the kiddos and much more! - http://moms.dmagazine.com
During the fashion show I got to see my favorite collection, Helmut Lang. Inspired by the “Spanish artist’s body of monochromatic work,” their new fall 2013 collection is all about wearing classic black and white pieces with contrasting textures. As a working girl, I have always found pieces by Helmut Lang to be very transitional. At times I have worn the same top with as many as 3 different types of outfits – daytime, a night out with the girls, a work meeting, or even a lunch date.
Lastly, I ran into Allie Volk, founder of Volk PR. This is one little lady that knows her P’s and Q’s behind making things HAPPEN! Based out of Dallas, TX Volk PR is a “innovative and driven public relations and marketing firm.” As a youngster, Allison started out in the fashion industry and entertainment business. As she became familiar with the industry, she decided to take on the big dogs and open her own men’s and women’s boutique – Volk, His and Hers. After moving to Texas 10 years later, she started consulting and worked her way up the ladder to begin her venture of starting her own company – Volk PR! - http://volkpr.com That deserves a double +1 in our books. ;)
As we ended our night, we had to stop to take a few photos. Haha.. We got a little “camera happy” as you can tell. But, it was way toooo... much fun! What a blast!
Thanks, from your +1's - JT and Amy
One may think that blogging is just about putting up pretty pictures of yourself, retweeting a tweet, or trying to fascinate your Facebook fans on how you bought a new pair of Jimmy Choo’s. The truth behind blogging lies within the blogger itself. What some may not understand, is that blogging is a way of sharing your life inspirations and hobbies to the world, or better so called, “blogosphere.” Blogging is a way you can show your “secret like” talents to the world in a way that inspires people to try or learn something new.
As a small local Dallas blogger, JT and I we’re thrilled to come to the Blogger Meet and Greet put on by a local Dallas favorite of ours, Meredith Govea from Create that Outfit. This is one girl that knows her P’s and Q’s when it comes to style. Her sense of color and ability to put together pieces of even the simplest tees and basic jeans are eye catching.
As the ladies and gents arrived we all had a chance to introduce ourselves and find out what was going on in the Dallas blogging world. Each blogger brought something new to the table and we loved how everyone had their own sense of style and personal taste.
As we drank our cocktails and yummy appetizers from Dragon Fly Hotel ZaZa we couldn’t help but be amazed by one of their appetizers called, the NOAH’S ARC, which was a chef’s selection of small bites that featured a wide variety of small bite size appetizers such as tacos, chicken on a stick and much more all in one plate. Yummy!
As the night went on, sponsors from Hard Night Good Morning and Sweet Justice featured their products and cookies.
Hard Night Good Morning was so kind to offer one of their Eye Cream’s for a giveaway, along with providing everyone important skin care tips.
